Adaptec Storage Manager provides a wizard to help you update the firmware for the disk drives in your storage space. The wizard updates the firmware for all disks of the same type on local and remote systems. You can update only one type of disk drive at a time.
New firmware images for your hard drives are posted on your vendor's support site on the World Wide Web. The image file name and extension vary by manufacturer.
Note! This task is recommended for advanced users only.
To Apply a New Firmware Image:
In the Enterprise View, select Direct Attached Storage. (Show Me!)
In the Actions menu, select Update drive firmware images.
The Drive Firmware Update wizard opens.
Click Next to continue this task.
Click Add to browse to the new image file you downloaded, select the file, then click Open.
In the wizard, click the image file you want, choose the packet size (in bytes) from the drop-down list, then click Next.
Note!: For SATA drives, the packet size must be a multiple of 512.
In the wizard, click Next.
Select the disk drives you want to update, then click Next.
Note!: For SAS drives with “Mode 6” support, select Save Later to use the new firmware just once, during the current session, and revert to the previous firmware the next time the drive is started.
Review the update summary, then click Apply.
Click Yes to begin the update. (This may take a few minutes.)
When the update is complete, click OK.
